    Holy wells

    Tuesday, September 18, 2007, 10:30 AM [General]

Avast me hearties, it be talk like a pirate day apparantly arrr ;)

Hehe, the amount of people that have reminded me of this today is amazing!

    --

Anyway, I'm posting today about holy wells!

Did you know that there are 3 holy wells in sutton park that are still visible and intact? Probrably not, but neither did I! I found a website run by pagans in mercia that listed various sacred sites in the area and their histories. http://www.whitedragon.org.uk

In additon, the site has a lovely wealth of information on local deities and folkore. The sort of thing that I LOVE.

Thinking about it now, I am pretty sure I have been to one of the wells before; on a treasure hunt years ago. It had a little plaque next to it explaining it's history and whatnot, and I have actually wondered about it before.

I've decided i'm going to track them all down and go and see them for myself!

    I've been tagged!

    Wednesday, September 12, 2007, 11:45 AM [General]

"Each player starts with eight random facts/habits or embarrassing things about themselves. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave them a comment telling them they're tagged, and to read your blog."

    Robin artisson and nigel jackson.

    Monday, September 10, 2007, 11:08 AM [General]

Just wondering, has anybody ever read anything by robin artisson and nigel jackson?

What was your opinion on their work? I'm tempted to order some of artisson's stuff, even if his ideas are more 'hedgewitchy' than my personal path. xD

    --

In other news, autumn is slowly becoming more obvious. Leaves are changing colour and the blackberries in the hedgerows are so ripe i'm worried they'll all be gone before I have time to pick some! :(

I also have nothing planned for this new moon whatsoever. I might make an ancestor bracelet, and perhaps finish it next week. Plus, If the weather is nice, I can just sit outside! :D

    --

I'm happy with my path at the moment. I kind of...bob about sometimes and wonder if it is right for me.

It fits me like a glove, it's everything I believe and for the most part i'm really happy, but sometimes I feel so uncomfortable at the simple idea of a spirit in my home that it makes me wonder about whether I am cut out for what I do.

It's not spirits in general, just spirits in MY home when i'm alone. It's the only place I'm truly safe and I suppose my problem is a psycological one. An uninvited spirit in my home is invading my 'safe zone' as it were.

I'l get over it in time xD Lol!

    Hope you all are well!

    Emma.

ACK!! This is why I am not wiccan.

    Friday, August 31, 2007, 02:53 AM [General]

I'm a bit ticked off at the moment.

So much so I'm going to post the reasons why I'm not a wiccan for all to see. Hopefully this will stop the silly questions and comments.

(Note:my view on wicca is a traditional one. May or may not offend)

*I'm under 18, should be a no brainer in a fertility religion.

*I'm not into the whole fertility religion thing anyway. It's not something I hold sacred above all else or anything.

    * I simply don't have the same beliefs as a wiccan. I don't worship their lord and lady (how could I if I don't even know their names?), I don't do the threefold law, I''m not against "dark" magic and I'm a hard polytheist.

*Most importantly, I really don't think I could belong to a religion with so much misinformation floating about.

-The way that many people who believe they are wiccan think that it is a nature religeon.

-The way that some (not all) feel that because all deities are essentially one, they act like they are in a salad bar.

-The way that some people believe they can start a coven, having not been initiated and having no lineage.

-The way that some peope believe wicca has no dogma and you are free to practice however you like as long as you stick to 'harm none'.

-The way that some will completely deny that wicca has any 'dark side'. They will completely overlook certain components of initiation ritual amongst other things.

-The way some people actually think corellian wicca is genuine 0___o

*Finally, I wouldn't want to belong to a religion where there is so much conflict with no apparant answer. Solitary? Coven? Solitary? Coven?

Sorry if that offended anyone, not every wiccan thinks the above, but quite a few do. But THAT is why I am not a wiccan, I felt I should post because recently I have been recieving messages from various people on various websites asking me why i'm not a wiccan, or that I'd be good as a wiccan. etc. Seriously...wtf.
